What is reverse engineering in 3D scanning?

The so-called reverse engineering is a kind of product design technology reproduction process, that is, to carry out reverse analysis and research on a target product, so as to deduce and obtain the product's processing flow, organizational structure, functional characteristics, technical specifications and other design elements, so as to produce products with similar functions but not exactly the same. Reverse engineering is derived from hardware analysis in the commercial and military domains. Its main purpose is to deduce the design principle of the product directly from the finished product analysis without obtaining the necessary production information easily.
The use of 3D scanning technology to obtain the 3D model of the product itself is a kind of reverse engineering. After obtaining the 3D data model of the object, we can use 3D printing or CNC equipment to copy, or use 3D software to re-edit and design the model.
